Strunk appears to be the American counterpart to our Fowler, of about the same era. His Modern English Usage has been revised from time to time, by his successors, but I believe it's still current. It is, however, considerably more idiosyncratic, being set out like an encyclopaedia, as an alphabetical series of small articles, sometimes with unexpected contents in relation to their titles, e.g. 'out of the frying pan' or 'Siamese Twins'.
