As someone who has come to study grammar rather late in life, this study stems mainly from the prompting of the members of this August Board, my wife, and the editors of several journals. In the end, consistent negative feedback works well. I am learning from a few good books, the critical one being Strunk. If you have not read Strunk, then it is well worth the purchase price of about $14 (USD). Strunk's little book is witty and alive with character.
I am learning some interesting things along the way, for instance, "consistent negative feedback works well" may well have a comma between consistent and negative as the two can possibly be interchanged, but I decided these concepts do not make as much sense reversed and so I have left of the comma.
Perhaps I err?
