That Model B brings back memories. It was the family camera (my mother's) during my AR-reading years.
The curious silver object on the left of the lens was an interesting feature. It was for the "Autograph" model; a sort of stylus. There was a sliding panel at the back of the camera, which opened to give access to the red paper backing the film. You were then supposed to write a description of the photo with the stylus. However, we all assumed, doubtless influenced by Dick and BS, that opening the back would cause fogging of the photo, so we never used the feature.
