My point was that Amazon (as Amazon, not as Mavis) was finished bright. AR told us so. A painted Mavis is one boat, a varnished Amazon is a totally different vessel, and the best thing you can say about them is that Mavis' design was used as a model for Amazon. For me Mavis is not Amazon with a coat of paint -- she's just not Amazon at all.
