Another problem with Facebook and MySpace is that it that many users have installed 'add-on applications' to 'enhance' their experience. Some of these harvest e-mail addresses and user profile information and then sell on this data to third parties.
I joined Facebook and set up a 'Polish Railways Group'. The result of my experiences - an increased volume of spam messages that my spam filters were unable to stop - is that I have decided never to access Facebook again.
