Never realized there were more than one on the way up, as in Tony Richards' pictures, just see there the one at the top. But it seemed a bit pointless, once at the top, to see a marker that essentially tells me what I think I would know anyway, that I was at the top. Just look around. It is all downhill from here, whatever way I go. Sure looks like a top to me. So markers to help guide one on the way to the top makes sense, but why have one at the top to say "You are at the top." It that is all it is there for, that is somewhat of an insult to one's intelligence, as it seems to add nothing to what I already have understood. It looks like a lot of work, carrying up all those stones, and piling them up somewhat neatly, to construct that cairn, so it better be for a purpose that is worth all that labor, ur, LABOUR. (Sorry 'bout that - forgot who I was writing to...)

But they do make handy places to hide away some time capsule with that all important coin, and paper with names and dates on it. Wonder how many have climbed to the top of Old Man, gone to that cairn up there, and started pulling out stone, looking for the note with reference to Bob Blackett...

Sounds like a good way to get in trouble. Sure would hate to pull out one at the bottom (assuming it was that loose to begin with) and then have the rest of them tumble down on me. That would be depressing.

And as for TarBoard, it has been nice, getting to know you all...

THANKS, IAN...
