Cumberland sausages and Cornish pasties got me thinking...
There are a number of fairly obvious borrowings by Enid Blyton from our favourite author:
- George who doesn't like her given name - a deranged version of Nancy;
- Kirrin Island complete with rocks and leading marks - Wildcat Island;
- Uncle Quentin and his temper - Captain Flint's rebuttal of John in SA;
- feasts?
EB doesn't provide the rich descriptions of places and things that AR does, but she does describe
in glorious detail the meals that Julian, Dick, Anne and George consume. There is wonderful
description by AR of the feast consumed on board the houseboat after the battle in SA. I seem to
remember quite a few others... Ed! Help!
