I am new here and absolutely thrilled to find a chat board devoted to S&A's.
In regards to John's watch I always assumed it was a wrist watch which he kept in his tent to keep dry. Nancy I always thought wore a wrist watch and as mentioned by another poster hung it by its strap from the totem in SW. Dick had a pocket watch. It is mentioned that he took it from his pocket in WH.
There is a photo of Taqui Altounyan sailing Mavis (the original Amazon) with Roger and she is definitely wearing a wrist watch. The photo is on page 40 of Captain Flint's trunk.
None of the illustrations in the book show anybody wearing a watch of any description though.
