I would Bowdlerise that word, too.

There are going to be thousands of copies with these words in for the next couple of hundred years - why not edit three words now in future editions, starting now?

If we see these books as simply texts by a dead writer, then leave them as they are - if we want children to enjoy reading the books in the future, change these three words.

They are not essential to the context, as they are in, say, Mark Twain's books.

As for Missee Lee, it is not a book that I would give to a Chinese friend. Chinese people don't speak English like that, and real "Chinglish" occurs when Chinese rules of grammar are accidentally inrtoduced into English - "Confucius he say" is a good example.
