Yes,I know it's not a scene from the actual film which I have seen quite a few times. I would rate it 7/10. 'Could do better.'
As to your main point about adapting the entire canon for TV/film, I just cannot see it ever happenning. We (the fans) would all argue too much!
I do not see why not. After all, who in the 1970s would have ever imagined "Lord of the Rings" being turned into a film? As to the fans squabbling - what was it Captain Nancy said? "...we want the sort of alliance that will let us fight each other if we want to..." and also work together to lobby the natives to make a decent screen adaptation!
