I realise that electricity would be easier and cheaper to install in a village. However my understanding was that electricity itself was expensive compared to alternatives, at least according to the BBC television program on the history of rooms that was on recently. And I recall reading that poorer households were regularly exchanging rechargeable batteries for the radio until the 1950s. So my point is would a working-class household in 1933 expect to be supplied with electricity?
