I vaguely recollect that when I was young my mother and her neighbours,
with no known Australian connections, would attract each other's
attention by calling 'Coooeee', with emphasis equally on both syllables,
or perhaps a bit stronger on the first, and with no particular technique
as far as I could tell. I don't remember hearing it for many years.
Maybe I have not heard it since we moved to a slightly more upmarket
area in 1960.
If there is a specific technique known to Aboriginals, perhaps it's
the same as yodelling. (But I don't know anything about yodelling
either.)
