I quite agree with you, John. They would make great stories to transcribe to film, and I enjoy the ones which have already been done. There are a large number of people who are breaking a leg to get into films, both before the cameras and behind. They would not expect to be paid the astonishing sums which we read about being doled out to a few "names". As I see it, the AR stories are just too "nice" to appeal to these young film-makers. They want gritty drama, with rampant hormones, someone on drugs, or on the run from the police. There are buckets of T.V. series made here in southern Australia which are relatively cheaply done [e.g."Neighbours" et al] Nice stories can be fimed [the recent "Darling Buds of May" series shows that], but getting someone interested in the first place to back it or to film it is a challenge.
