Trying to think of my favourite line I realise that Ransome is not a
writer who leaves many strong individual lines in my memory. In this
he is contrasted with, say, Tolkien, who leaves dozens, such as

They were come to the Desolation of the Dragon, and they were come
at the waning of the year.

The best Ransome contender I've been able to think of so far is the
jiggered Dutchman, as already quoted by someone else in this thread.

Someone has mentioned the first sentence of SA. There is also the last
two paragraphs of PM (spoken by Timothy and Nancy), the last sentence of
Swallowdale (spoken by Susan), and the last sentence of PD.

Then there's this little exchange:

"Nancy," said the doctor.
"Yes," said Nancy.
"I wish you were at the bottom of the deep blue sea."
He slipped in his clutch and the car moved on.
