I thought that this was an interesting thread. Don't know why or how it developed into an irritable exchange of views on other matters. Can I be so bold as to suggest that we do Jonathan Labaree the courtesy of looking at his question?

" Last fall, WoodenBoat magazine had a brief description of a book called "Raiders of the Lost Barque" by Stephen Duff. The one-sentence write-up characterized the book as an S&A-type story taking place in Parry Sound, Lake Huron.

I'm wondering if any of our Canadian colleagues have read this book and what they think of it. Last summer, my wife and I drove from our home in Maine to visit my wife's aunt off Pointe-au-Baril at her camp on a small island. It's just the sort of place the crews of S&A would have loved to explore, chart, and generally enjoy. So, hearing about this book made me wonder if it's worth picking up.

Any thoughts? "
