There was a brief discussion on this subject on the "McLaughlin Group" on PBS last night. No conclusion made. They essentially held the same views noted above. The lady on board expressed the opinion that ships should be "politically correct", i.e. "its". It seems to me that a ship/boat with character should be "she" and one with no character can be an "it". But Tradition says --------- And Lloyds says ------
And the Royal Navy says --------

Any candidates for "he" ships?


This thought can go on ad nauseum ------- !!!!!
