Hmm - I think she's right! The evidence is that some (but not all) of Susie Altounyan's characteristics were incorporated into Susan Walker. As usual, AR 'worked up' the character successfully.

My use of 'successfully' won't please Prue Eckett. I am happy to be called an uncritical admirer of AR. I do indeed admire the complex and utterly realistic emotional undercurrents he created in his stories. If you cannot detect these, then you have to faff around on the surface, wondering why Susan got irritable occasionally. Lit Crit it is not.
