BAIL or BALE?

Noticed some inconsistency in the spelling of BALE or BAIL,
a word that is referring to the dipping of unwanted water
from the bottom of a boat and tossing it over the side.

Most references are to the "BALE" version, but at the end
of this collection are four places that use the "BAIL"
version.

"BALE" also has an unrelated meaning, as in a bundle, as
when CF carried a BALE of goods on his back as they moved
their camp from Horseshoe Cove up to Swallowdale.

The following use the spelling "BALE" or "BALE" or "BALING":
