Ha. You touch on a sore point with me there, Richard. I'd rather you'd said "any of the versions of Buchan's 'The Thiry-Nine Steps.'" -- they just got progressively worse.

But I've learnt only reasonably recently that you can't claim copyright for a book title -- only for its content. Presumably the same goes for films too, in which case as a film-maker you can choose any famous title from literature that you like, write whatever junk pleases you as a film, and launch it under that title.

Good scheme -- ensures financial success.

(Cynical? Who, me....?)
