I don't often look for AR on the internet, but I noticed today that Ransome's CBE seems to be a well-kept secret. I could not find mention on TARS or ART or less authoritative sites and I think Brogan only gives it the briefest mention. Apparently it was awarded in 1953, a year that I researched while writing Nancy Blackett. Surely AR must have made some mention somewhere? We know that he said he would be too busy to receive the Carnegie Medal in person (though he did) and was very unwell when he received his Doctorate. Does anyone know more about this particular gold star?
