Sort of a dismal point of view, IMO. I loved that children like me, in the stories I read, went through difficulties & figured out how to deal with them, and things DID turn out all right in the end. Even from an early age, I wanted that fictional happy ending to tell me that the big, sometimes scary world wasn't so scary after all. Books were my other world, my escape from my real life (which was very normal & happy!).
