Another mystery: When Dick is making the aqua regia in Capn Flint's study, he says to himself 'Nitric acid and hydrochloric acid . . . Equal parts'. Where did he get this formula from? It seems to be generally agreed that for aqua regia the acids need to be mixed in the ratio one-third nitric to two-thirds hydrochloric.
