In terms of the slight rake, any ideas of an angle.

At the moment I have it vertical because that is what I thought I could see in the sketches.

I spent an enjoyable 6 hours yesterday working out the sail characterisitcs and the likely forces. I will put the Excel files into a PDF form and ship them to Dave.

Thanks for the notes on the timber. What I really need now is a sketch of a strop and a travellor. I have never seen either and I am blind on that point.
Does anyone have a picture or can sketch one for me please.

Also the picture of scarab shows a very steep angle on the boom. ANy ideas on what boom angle the old boats on Morecombe Bay had. The photos I have seen look more like AR's sketches and less like SCARAB sketch.
