Rock cakes are irregularly shaped, and do indeed look a little rocky. They are about the size of the palm of a small child's hand, and contain dried fruit. Their crust is quite hard, which I think gives them their name. I think that an American equivalent may be drop scones? [Not too sure about this.] Where's that man Nichols when we need him? Probably gone off to get himself hitched.
Meanwhile, can someone tell me if bunloaf is simply fruity bread, or is it something else?
David.
