'The Far-Distant Oxus', by Katharine Hull & Pamela Whitlock. Introduction by Arthur Ransome.I'm just reading this: but need some info. At the head of each chapter there is a portion of verse: but there is no attribution-title or author. I am assuming all the verses come from the same poem/book. Can anybody help with identification?Chapter 1 is headed: "For a cloud Grew suddenly in Heaven, and darkened the sun."The last chapter, Chapter 25 is headed: "for like lightening to this field I came, and like the wind I go away - " Sudden, and swift and like a passing wind.In one of the extracts there is mention of "oxus". HELP please. Donald Wall.
