Well, yes.
I started this thread in the full knowledge of its "Beckfoot plumbing" potential!
Having got that off my chest, it is still an interesting point!
AR was continually updating his stories to "the year just passed" (cf the radar towers at Bawdsey in WDMTGTS). His stories are taking place in a continuous present.
By the time he writes PP, Rattletrap is an established part of the Beckfoot entourage, has been there for years, and "knows her master"!
The middle class motor car has arrived, and the horse drawn vehicle in which the Amazons are spotted in party frocks by horrified Swallows is deep in the past!
