Apologies if this is already widely known, but today's Westmorland Gazette reports that Mavis/Amazon, previously on display in the Steamboat Museum, Windermere, is now on display in the Ruskin Museum, Coniston, on a long loan courtesy of the Altounyan family. There is an article with a photograph of Vicky Slowe, the Museum's curator, giving some background and the boat's role in inspiring the books. It's 80 years since Mavis first arrived on Coniston.

No web link yet, but if the story does appear on the Gazette's site I'll post a link. In the meantime I will scan it and put it on the Yahoo Group site (join now!).
