TarBoard located elsewhere

TARS provides some public space

This suggests to me that there is a problem with hosting it at Lancs university. Not totally surprising, but very sad. As others have written here, Tarboard is an unusually decent place; the combination of openness and intelligent moderation appear to have combined magically to produce an approachable and happy place. If it goes I shall certainly miss it- rather a lot.

Facebook Ransome group - seems reasonable - serves to "to celebrate and promote Arthur Ransome's life, works ..etc." within a wide community

Oh dear. Earlier this year I went to Facebook, for specific reasons to do with recovering some information which was placed there by somebody who needed to broadcast it. I found Facebook a truly horrible experience, including a toxic mixture of toadying and boasting; all the absolutely worst features of fanzines and dating sites. Its huge popularity appears to demonstrate that it's something that a lot of people want . All it does for me is induce nausea. I unsubscribed to Facebook within a couple of hours and it has left a horrid feel...

From what I experienced, it appears to me to be the total antithesis of everything AR stood for.

It's also rather clunky to use...
