I'm straying a little from the original topic. Yes, John, they did used to drop tools at the first sign of rain. I had blokes working for me who claimed that the union had extracted an agreement from management that working in the rain was dangerous. This was abused, as when I found one of my teams sitting in a truck when they should have been working. "It's going to rain soon" they claimed. I told them that it most definitely hadn't started yet, so they should get cracking.
