What I find odd is that AR should give his story the same title as a book by Balzac, and one by Nathaniel Hawthorne - both authors he enjoyed.
Particularly when the work is (according to biographer Roland Chambers) "A gothic homage to M P Shiel and Balzac."
I haven't managed to find AR's version as a free ebook, but I will keep looking.
