Who remembers A. P. Herbert's 'Misleading Cases'? they made a sit-com of them with Roy D'otrice as Mr. Haddock, in the 60's.
One of the episodes was called 'Port to Port', and the court case was a convoluted farce about who had right of way on a flooded road, Mr. Haddock in his rowing boat or a business man in his large car. As usual, Mr Haddock won the case.

Link to children's literature, Roy D'otrice's daughter, Michelle, played the small girl, Jane, in Disney's 'Mary Poppins.
