Okay, let's be careful. It appears that in the U.K. the term "charity" is used rather more
broadly than in the U.S. (at least) and quite possibly in other places. In the U.S. we have
a non-profit, tax-exempt provision for organizations; such organizations may well be charities
but can also be other types of organizations (such as educational, for example). My impression'
is that "charity" is a portmanteaux term in the U.K. which is nearly as broad as "non-profit
corporation" in the U.S.

Here at least if TARS qualified as a tax-exempt non-profit (and were a U.S. organization applying for
such status) it would probably be on educational grounds and it would have to demonstrate that it met the
legal provisions for such organizations. My guess is that it probably would.
