Now then, now then, gentlemen, there's been a tad too much flak aimed at the good old lowly Mirror dinghy. "Non-boaty appearance"? Well really! Just because it doesn't have a pointy end capable of slicing a jetty in two. That squared-off bow is certainly useful - much easier to ram a jet-skier (or even two at once). I do not, however, subscribe to the view held by some that the Mirror will sail just as fast backwards. (Nor is it possible to put an outboard on the bows).

Seriously though, it's a fine boat for a duffer like me who doesn't care too much about not breaking the speed limit and who likes to be in a boat and not on it. My Mirror 27938 will be on Coniston this summer - please give us both a friendly wave (Mirrors always like friendly waves). She's named Squashy Hat after a much maligned character who doesn't get his just dues - three million cheers for all those shy people!
