Mike, the question of DJ's has been raised before.
It has been pointed out that adding a DJ to an un-DJ'd edition
(specially a first) is at best, misleading. I suppose the book & the DJ should correctly have been together since leaving the printer.
However that doesn't stop me from regretting, like you, the absence of mine from the battered green hardbacks. Could we not, through TARS perhaps, organise a printing of the DJ's just for our own comsumption - clearly stating somewhere on the back that these are fakes/reprints whatever? So, not intended to deceive, but just make the books look really good on the shelf. I'm old enough to remember those awful visits to the dentist in London, with the reward from my father: "You can choose a book at the Times Book Club", and looking at all the exciting little pictures on the cover of the AR's.
I should think that a lot of us would be interested and the book stall could make some money.
