I'm not sure I can respond to what Roger W said....so I'll go off at a tangent.

I recall some people interviewed (I think it was for the BBC 'Awfully Big Adventure' TV series) saying that Ransome the adult was quite childish. He was happy to play games with children, but only if they played HIS way, I think they said.

Is there any written/book evidence to back this up?
