I've always believed that Tom went to my old (secondary) school, Norwich King Edward VI Grammar School. It must be the nearest grammar school to Horning, and when I lived in Wroxham there was a direct bus from Norwich to Horning and on to Yarmouth, the No. 5 I believe, though no school-mates actually lived in Horning. I used the Wroxham to Norwich trains, the route the D's and Tom took, when I didn't get a lift. Many of my colleagues travelled further - Lowestoft, Yarmouth, North Walsham.
We too had lessons on Saturday morning and games in the afternoon if you represented the School. There were games on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for everyone, though some boys opted for sailing - at Horning!
I suspect there must be another Old Norvicensian out there?
Rob
