I've been musing about the intrinsic personal values AR has within his stories. Our world seems to have lost so much. Our young people seem driven by 'wow' at whatever cost. I suspect that the more simple one's life, the greater the value it holds. So TV / fone / computer game / £100 trainer kids can't enjoy the life satisfaction of AR's young people stemming from simple but real life circumstances.

The problem is what - if anything - might we do? How can we bring AR's values into the consciousness of our young people today?

I know this post is a bit esoteric - but I would rather see AR's legacy as am on-going, dynamic empowering one for young people - rather than history in aspic. What do you think? Joe
