George MacDonald Fraser, the inventor of Flashman, died January 2 at 82. There is a tribute in the most recent The Economist. I don't know how to work the https but I'm sure you can find it. Flashman, a hero to all of us ordinary men.
I'm not sure what AR would have thought about Flashman....
