Duncan's is an interesting idea. I have an old 6 inch map 1919 edition which shows "The Mount' just S of Belle Grange to be densely wooded. I do not think that this should prejudice the case for Belle Grange/Beckfoot though.
I took the Waterhead — Wray launch trip which passes south of Watbarrow Point at Wray. The rocky headland to me looks like AR's drawing of the promontary with trees. The area was less densely covered with trees in the 1919 Map, though But then AR was quite capable of 'removing' the trees.
Somehow I don't see 'dark gloomy' Lanehead contributing much to Beckfoot.
It's all good fun!
