I agree that the twins ages were a little soft but they did have the right attitude and I believe that the producerws felt that this was the over-ridng requirement. The podgy version of Tom Dudgeon was look - not character to me - he probably stood out from the rest in casting calls because he does seem capable enough to be Tom. Still my main point was that the films do quite well by the books, which as we know is not always the case! Far more disapointing to me was Captain Flint in the Swallows and Amazons film. Although a very good actor he just wasn't and couldn't be Uncle Jim.
