Oh dear - rather a hornet's nest I've stirred up!
Nancy was alway my favourite character too (yes gentlemen - I have read the books. And written part of a sequel too. Why would I bother to continue to come here if I hadn't?)
My point is that there was a particular way of doing things that society demanded, and still in some cases demands, and putting the male members of the family first when addressing post etc was one of them. If Titty had been the specific addressee then her name would have been on the label, but as the pigeons were adressed to the two youngest Walkers, Roger's name was used as the male of the pair. Simple!
If anyone has real proof that societal mores were different then, it would be appreciated. Otherwise, this 'discussion' seems a trifle pointless.
