ML has Captain Flint using Morse in the pirate ship, and he also sends the long written Semaphore message (with junks as stops at the end of sentences) about him claiming to be Lord Mayor of San Francisco. Isn’t that the message that a Brownie group found six or seven errors in, and AR had to redraw? Nancy sends a Semaphore message from Beckfoot at the beginning of SW, so Captain Walker says she should teach signalling to the Navy. But in PP Nancy sheepishly acknowledges that it was no use Roger & Titty frantically semaphoring (?) about Squashy Hat’s approach if no one looks at them.

Also, there is the reversed writing, read in a mirror, that the Eels use in SW (referring to Nancy & Peggy as “two females”?).

PS: How do you TAP Morse (as in the pirate ship); one tap for a dot and two taps close together for a dash?

PS: I went to Boy Scouts for a while, but never got as far as learning Morse or Semaphore. And Morse has just been abolished as a requirement for a full “ham” or amateur radio licence (with use of all frequencies) here in New Zealand.
