I have read the article, and I can see that there has been a misunderstanding. However, I sympathise with the Pc, for this reason. We have long used the word 'black' in the English language to denote 'evil' or 'darkness' or 'death' and other wholly negative concepts. In my view, we should start to change this usage. Britain is now, whether we like it or not, a multi-racial society. The decision was made by successive governments to allow mass immigration, like it or not, and we must now live with the consequences, and I am sorry but there are consequences. We cannot go on blithely as we were before. Any negative usage of the word 'black' is likely to offend and we have to take this on board. Having allowed a large number of black people to settle in this country, we have to take active steps to make them feel they 'belong'. Otherwise there could be social unrest, to use a mild term.

I agree that context should be taken into account, but people without cultural roots in Britain cannot always see or recognise context. OK, I believe that they should make the effort to learn and understand context, but we (and here I mean indigenous whites) must also make an effort. That police constable should not be ridiculed.
