With Mike providing the name a quick Google revealed an article in Guardian Unlimited 2001 Sep 4 (must learn how to do links one day).

The jewellery company was the Italian firm Bulgari, and the contract (for an "undisclosed but not huge" sum) was for at least 12 mentions in the book.

In fairness to Fay Weldon, the original intention was for a de luxe printing of only 750 for Bulgari's most-favoured customers. However, her agent apparently saw broader commercial possibilities (Bulgari wasn't objecting) and the book was scheduled for general release. I have no ideas whether it has been.

Could AR have worked Force at least 12 times into SA?
