Neither could I. I'm sorry - I posted just before looking on the site myself - such is my faith in the BBC.

I honestly don't mind about RP accents (can't really afford to)or regional ones, provided they're intelligible - or even if they're not, as long as I don't much care what they're saying - when we were in Scotland I had the car radio tuned to a gaelic station all the time, just for the musicality of it.

But I DO wish the wretched Beeb would do what it says on the tin, as far as Listen Again is concerned. (and to make matters worse somebody rang me up at 3.47 yesterday). Perhaps they'll all be put on at the end of the series.

THe children's voices are explained by the fact that they all live(d) on the South Coast of England. The 'disembodied' male voice was that of Roger Wardale, and the female one, Claire Kendall-Price. The series seems to be based on her excellent book, In the Footsteps of the Swallows and Amazons, a series of walks, with maps, notes and photos, visiting the book locations - should be in every Ransome-lover's knapsack.
