Ian-

Your reference to that very informative article regarding the driving on the Right/Left side of the road is greatly appreciated. It has addressed questions that up to now have been a great puzzle in my understanding. It is nice to know that there is a reason for doing things different ways, and not just some quirky notion just to be different.

I have never been faced with having to drive on the unnatural side of the road, but the thought is a bit frightening, as I just feel that I could be the cause of a major misunderstanding.

This article also brought out a concept that I had never thought of before, and that is, what is the local custom when it pertains to which side of the sidewalk does a pedestrian walk on. I must pay more attention the next time I go to the Mall and see just how much confirming to the custom is being done, and how many are fighting the flow and try to "swim upstream." Any selection of which side I walk on has been subconsciously made by me in the past. Guess the "rule" is so "built in" I was not all that aware of it.

The things one learns by chasing All Things Ransome...

Thanks for that very educational contribution.
