Susan was an expert sailor - it's there in the books. I think we can take it for granted that she enjoyed all the adventures - there's no evidence that she didn't. As to fussing over everything, well someone had to! What would have happened when they all wanted feeding, if Susan hadn't been there? I go along with Capn Flint, when he said that Susan was 'worth her weight in gold'.

BTW - why are grannies supposed to fuss over things? Neither of mine did.
