Is now a conglomerate covering not only shipping but also terminals,
logistics and even real estate!
As with most shipping companys they no longer carry passengers on
their regular services, though they do own Crystal Cruises which they
run from the US!
A real monster company here in Japan who can (and do) throw their
weight about in areas that do not necessarily directly impact them!!
When I first came to Japan - by ship - in 1960 I sailed on the
PATROCLUS owned by Holts (Blue Funnel Line) and it took seven weeks
from Birkenhead to Yokohama - those were the days!!
Surely it was one of the Holt family who owned a house close to the
Collingwoods by the Lake, wasn't it? Posting from the office, so I
