A "chimpanZED" - Now THAT's funny !

A small striped horse is called a ZEDbra...

Maybe someone that is very familiar with the German language can better describe the pronunciation of that last letter of the alphabet as it is done in their language.

As for "VASE" being pronounced "VAAHSE" - we here in the USA SOUTH attribute such affectations as being a YANKEE twist to the way it should be done - except the way I hear Yankees doing it is VAAHZE with more of a final Z sound, not S.

And speaking of MONKEY - A "SPANNER" in England is a "WRENCH" in USA. The ADUSTABLE SPANNER in England is a, (ready for this one?) MONKEY WRENCH. Go figure...

Just goes to show that where ever you are, those people not from there sure do talk funny.

Amazing how the appreciation of ALL THINGS RANSOME continues to be a learning experience.

I thank you all for enhancing that education for me. We have a lot to learn about each other, and Ransome has opened that door a bit.

Or as we say in the South of USA, "I preciate y'all a ho' bunch..."
