People’s memories about timescales are notoriously fallible, Peter. At one time I had to deal professionally with matters that involved people remembering what happened and when.
Generally if people were right within 10 years - that was about average. So five years is good. A characteristic of aging is that older events are better recalled and often bought nearer in timescale.
My own memory is poor; I keep a diary not to record day to day events but to record major items.
